ASD Show in Vegas ~ Day 1

This conference was new to me but my friend Marie has been before and has invited me a few times in the past but this year was the year to finally go to it. Crazy that the last time I met up with her and her husband was in January for CES and here we are getting to meet up again the next month. SO fun!

The drive out of Ridgecrest was a bit different since there had just been snow a few days prior! So many roads were closed and I was grateful I didn't have to get caught up in that. The roads were mostly dry and I didn't have to worry or slow down for the snow.

I arrived in Las Vegas Sunday evening and got settled into where I had been invited to stay on Spencer Street. Bless Mark's heart for helping me get my bags up the stairs and to our room. I was so excited to sleep on a Murphy bed again!

We went to Blueberry Hill for dinner. I am not sure how I have never been here before... this restaurant is open 24 hours and the menu was extensive. I really wanted to try the Noodle Meatball soup and I'm glad I did. I could have gotten a bigger bowl of it and been fine. But my eyes saw other foods on the menu that I knew I had to try. Plus the soup had onions in it unfortunately so I had to eat around those. But it went alright.

I ordered this! Oh my. I always think I like this Hollandaise sauce and then I get it and am just like oh, okay. Maybe I feel like it doesn't have much flavor or something. But underneath that yellow sauce were 2 English muffins, 2 hashbrown-style pancakes, 2 slices of Canadian Bacon, and scrambled eggs. Plus a cup of fruit on the side. All so good, so filling, and this lasted me 2 more meals!

Moving on to the next morning...we left the room after a nice little breakfast with our rolling bags, snacks, and sandwiches for lunch.

Here we go!

The ASD show is for vendors to go and sell their items at wholesale prices to people who have shops, businesses, etc. Everything you could think of was located in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Clothing, jewelry, and accessories were the main items in this hall.

I saw these hats that I liked but they were never available for purchase.

Some booths did cash and carry items but all that pretty much happened on the last day.

Some cool items I found...fun owl bag (no need for this but it was a print I'd never seen before) and then how about that, cherries and pandas in the same photo!

The same booth with the cool bags also had these purses that looked like book covers. So unique!

This booth had tons and tons of jewelry. While it was very fun to look at, I only bought 1 thing.

We got to ride in a Tesla (for the Tesla Tunnel) over to the west hall where there were soo many booths and items. It was like Amazon in real life or something. It was crazy to me that there were people there who had their whole booth for sale. I have no idea how much booths were selling for but how wild is that. Go to ASD, buy a booth (like a mini store), and then continue to sell the items or pack them up and take them to wherever you are going to sell them next. Online? Your own store back home?

Thanks to my friend Marie for the photo. This is the size of the tunnel we were in! It was so much faster to take the Tesla Tunnel than try to walk over here.

A few snapshots of items that caught my eye.

This cool owl rolling bag. Sadly it had already sold by the time I saw it - see the blue tape?

This teal set of pans! So pretty.

Squishmallows - of course. Aren't you a fan? ;-)

Fun display items. The tree was neat because all those little white lights changed to different colors. I wish I could have that in my backyard!

These lights were SO beautiful. This style had gotten pushed way down in my thoughtosphere but every time I see these, I think about how gorgeous they are to look at and how much I'd like to own one. And with my luck, there was a section selling for 50% off so I got a deal on one. It was very very hard to decide which one to pick but the guys working at the booth (plus Marie and Mark) were patient with me while I hemmed and hawed about it. Lol.

Just look how eye-catching and gorgeous these are!

Spotted every bird and owl...

These dishes were so pretty!

This is the one I ended up getting. Of course, I put it together that evening so we could all admire it.

After we walked our feet off at the ASD show, we decided we weren't done walking and we went to a Goodwill store and picked up some Aura Bora drinks for a taste-testing party. Stay tuned for that! We also swung by a Walmart for things like chips, queso dip, milk, and other essentials.

Consumer Electronics Show - Vegas 2011

Words cannot sum up how amazing this weekend was, only the 2nd weekend of this brand new year - 2011!  CES was the wknd after Tony was in Arizona and I got to see him the weekend I went to Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show aka CES. I registered  for it in August 2010 when it was free so all I had to pay for was my plane ticket. In the end, I wound up driving because Tony got tickets to the Wave , on the border of Az and Utah, for the same weekend. Total score that I got to see him two weekends in a row!

Little tricky to get my badge..I found out the day before I was supposed to show 2 forms of ID and the 2nd form of ID had to be a pay stub or business card. So I printed some at work and luckily the guy at the counter accepted that and gave me my pass. Phew!
So many Asians standing around outside on a break or something. I dont know why but I laughed inside. Prob bc it reminded me of a movie or something.

Displays set up outside before I walked in

Here's where to go! This is the main building and I spent a majority of the day in here.

First I checked out the 3D tv's for awhile. Boy they were pretty neat

I found a panel to go to but it turned out to be about kids and computer games that help them learn. It was interested, IF I had kids. So I was like, forget this , I am only here 1 day, I am going to go get free stuff and see all the vendors! So, thats what I did...err..tried to do. It was impossible to see everything in just 1 day.
Left to right - cool robot ...wall of lights...some kind of bike..and a girl playing the new Kinect
Huge wall of so many tv screens! It was just something you had to stop and stare at. Next, a few items from Dr. Who! Then, I spent some time at the Wired Magazine booth and won the Roxio cd software right before they closed and I had to leave. Intel had a pretty cool set up so I sat and listened to them for a bit.
New car technology - dual USB and stuff, looked sweet. Ipad's that turn into a computer with a real keyboard and a phone you can hook your iphone into to use like a regular size phone. Lol

A band performed but I missed them :( Still, took a pic anyways  Allegedly Lady Gaga was at CES? Or maybe it was a contest to meet her but they kept saying "Lady Gaga will be here at 3pm" I dont care for her so I didnt stick around.

The floor in the room I was in. It was huge and there were many more rooms to see!
Sweet jump drives, I liked the owl one! The pic in the middle has gotta be someone famous but I didnt recognize him. I managed to get close enough to get a picture before his undercover secret agents whisked him away.

A favorite place to get freebies

Stayed til dark and then Emily Valentine picked up me...and my bag of schwagg
(pictured below)

I scored a ton of good stuff. Lots of pamphlets and information but also a tshirt, Reeses, soft 3D tv dog, Roxio software from the Wired booth, cloth to wipe my ipod and cell phone and more :D

Emily & I went to the newest hotel in Vegas and explored that. My legs were so tired from walking all over the place at CES but in my next post I will write about the new hotel, my dinner that pretty much cost $30 [ at least it was a buffet! ] and some cool pictures. Stay readin'!

'Ventures in Vegas

My cousins invited me to go to Vegas with them and my boss let me take a Friday off work so last Thursday evening we took off from Arizona & we got to our hotel where we were staying - the Excalibur - about 1230pm or so at night. We had stopped to get food along the way along with a stop for gas but the drive was really not too bad. Paul & Rene's friends April & her husband Mike were coming to Vegas from Hawaii because he had a custom Harley built and he was going to check it out before it got shipped to Hawaii plus they had never been in Vegas before! So that was fun :)

Found some crazy long tubes of candy at one of our stops!

We stayed here in the castle for the nights we were there which was Thursday, Fri, Sat and we left on Sunday. I suppose there was a good deal gotten on our room but it was not really that clean! I wrote a review on Yelp.com about it...

Checking out the coke store. Found a sweet Cherry Coke hat which I did not buy but I did buy to try the cherry limeade icee ice cream float! Say that 5x's fast!

Saw some famous baseball players...

Took the monorail/train back to our hotel

and spent the afternoon relaxing and swimming before we headed out to dinner

We went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. My salad was HUGE! There was a cool interactive wall display but I didnt touch it because of, you guessed it, soo many germs.Lol. Sick.

After dinner we walked down the strip a little, then we parted ways and the parents went to check out some bars while Joey & I went to Gameworks and played games for an hour or so before heading back to the hotel. It was pretty fun even though some of the games didnt work and I played one I didnt like with giant spiders! But the rest were cool and it was a fun way to spend an evening in Vegas.

Hot Air Balloons - my favorite fetish [besides birds, cherries, Sacramento Kings, traveling, etc]

A bunch of random Vegas pix from Saturday

I GOT TO HOLD PARROTS AT THE FLAMINGO HOTEL/MARGARITAVILLE. IT WAS SOOO COOL! Sorry for shouting. I was just so excited!!!!

Uhh the server is rejecting the rest of my awesome pictures! nooo!! I will try to upload them later. If anyone knows why it might be rejecting them, let me know. Gracias!
