OoOo Spooky! Nightmare On 13th in SLC & Giveaway!

Hi! My name is Laura and I am doing a guest post for my sister's blog! Stacie got two passes to Nightmare on 13th in Salt Lake City from a local blogger and generously passed them on to me! My husband Rocky and I decided it would be a fun date night! Nightmare on 13th is one of the top 5 haunted houses in the nation and we were excited to see what they had to offer this year. They have 3 sections to go through, starting with the Dark Harvest, then going on to 13 Levels of Fear, and finishing up with Mutant.

We went on a Thursday night and I was expecting smaller crowds since it wasn't quite the weekend. We got there a little after they opened for the night and the place was in full swing! The parking lot was almost full, they had characters out  ready to scare people, and spooky music blasting to get everyone in the mood. There definitely was an air of excitement in the air! We got our wristbands and then were ready to go!

Everyone starts out getting a couple photos taken with a zombie, which you have the option to buy at the end of going through the haunted house. We opted to take photos afterwards with some of the monsters and zombies and we got some fun ones!

Nightmare on 13th has a good variety of scary features, the best ones being the people and creatures that jumped out at you! Rocky felt there could have been more of them, to have more of an ongoing suspense feel. There were some areas that were almost pitch dark to get through, and with the scary sound effects and lights flashing every few seconds giving us a glimpse of zombies, gigantic spiders or mummies, we for sure had our hearts beating more quickly than normal!  The characters that we ran into were not timid about trying to scare us! We also laughed at different parts to hear other people screaming as something jumped out at them! We got a good scare from a mutant with a chainsaw in the mutant area.

I did wish we could have seen more of the 13 Levels of Fear! When we entered we had the option to go right or left and we saw probably half of the fears. The entrance to the left was the fear of heights which would have been fun to see how they did that, and we also didn't get to go through the fear of clowns. We did go through fear of snakes, which was crazy with all the snakes at our feet, I wanted to rush through that fear as fast as I could, as well as the fear of the dentist, and the fear of zombies, just to name a couple!

There are a lot of surprises, so don't rush or it will be over sooner than you'd like! We got a good mix of scariness and laughs and it is a fun way to get in the mood for Halloween or just do something a little different for a night! We saw a lot of families (with kids probably 9 or 10 and up), as well as couples and groups. It is easy to see that Nightmare on 13th puts a lot of planning into what they do and we enjoyed getting to be a part of it!

Now you can enter to win passes to go here too! Good luck!

I've been to this haunted house and it is scary. I would love to take my husband to a haunted house. We have never been together.

I haven't been to Nightmare on 13th in years! When my wife and I were first married, we made it a point to go every year, and Nighmare on 13th was the best. (at least after Rocky Point closed down). Good article!
