Rocky Point, MX - Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers!

A couple weeks my friend Chris asked me if I wanted to go to Rocky Point, Mexico with him! He is a HUGE Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers fan (Arizona based band, pretty big) and he didnt want to go by himself. This happened on a Friday night, the same night at the Shawn Barrowe's concert. I thought, what the heck, I dont have a whole lot planned yet for Saturday-Sunday so I said, "if I can find my birth certificate, I will come". Thankfully it was in the first box I looked in! I packed up some things Friday night and Chris came at 630 on Saturday morning and after a quick stop at Sonic, listening and learning the music of Roger Clyne, it only took us about 4 hours to get across the border and to Rocky Point.

((driving through a lot of cactus....and a scary billboard in Mexico))

First we stopped at one of his favorite places to eat. The food was really really good and we were pretty much the only customers at 11 in the morning so we ate upstairs and they brought all our food to us!

(( the ocean was very pretty.....a "Starbucks"...haha ))

(( found a cool wall painting to walk by....so many signs to places! ))

(( rent a horse to ride on the beach! I thought that'd be so fun...Resort where we stayed...))

(( traveled on a dusty dirt road to get to the location of the concert...))

Got our tickets and then that was around 1pm or so and the concert didn't start until 6:30! People were already staking out tables and good spots to sit but we decided to go exploring/shopping so we went to a place Chris knew of called "Shacks 5th Ave" because it used to be shopping amongst all these shack shops but now it is a little nicer.

See the churro place that is a yellow tent? We were SO excited to go get fresh churros, we walked and explored up one side of the street and down the other...only to find out the churro place was closed! On a Saturday?! Tried to find another churro place and that was closed too. So sad, we never did find any churro's in Rocky Point.

Instead we walked, talked, and bartered with people and saw many interesting things. I didnt care for people trying to sell us stuff every few feet. It got annoying and reminded me of Vegas, on the strip where people try to give you cards & flyers about events. I did buy a necklace, some vanilla & a wrestling mask!

Finally. The concert was outside at JJ's Martina. It was a cool location and it was packed outside. The only part I didnt like was all the people smoking (cigars too) and drinking. By the end of the night I had a headache and was really sleepy/tired bc we had done a lot of walking & I had only gotten a few hours sleep the night before. We met some cool people at the concert though, a couple from Maricopa, AZ and a couple from Portland are some people we talked to the most. Had little missionary opportunities with them as they offered to buy us drinks. So that was nice. Ended up giving the Maricopa couple a ride back to their hotel because it was close to ours and they were just going to call a taxi. Finally we made it back to where we were staying - Laos Mar Hotel & Suites, and I quickly fell asleep.

The ceiling had a design that looked like a brain. So weirdie

beautiful view from the balcony

pirate ships!! and I loved how green the seaweed was

view of the hotel from the beach

Even trying to get across the border, kids mostly, came up to our car and tried to sell us tortillas, tamales, a statue of a turtle or just came begging for change. I bought a mask on Saturday similar to the one in the picture and then when we were crossing over, I saw another one I liked hanging on the fence. O well!

huge yucky speed bumps throughout Rocky Point ......and a crossing the border sign!!

I love it!! We have eaten at that taco shop a zillion times where u sit upstairs. It's GREAT! But we have a new favorite that is ridiculously good...Combos Tacos...I think it's near those big road signs u posted just on the side street....best tacos ever. We always go to Shacks 5th & Old Port too. Rocky Point is SO fun! We've been twice this year & going back for fall break! Always love to discover that my friends like it too. :)
